NCSY Summer Raffle – Terms and Conditions

NCSY Summer Purim Sweepstakes Official Rules

 

No Purchase or Donation Necessary to Enter or Win.

 

NCSY Summer Purim Sweepstakes (“Sweepstakes”) is sponsored by NCSY, a program of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America (the “Orthodox Union”), a non-profit organization, having an address at 40 Rector Street, New York, NY 10006 (“Sponsor”).

 

ELIGIBILITY:

The Sweepstakes is open to all persons who are at least 18 years of age at the time of entry subject to the terms and conditions of these Official Rules (“Entrants”).

 

In the event that the Sponsor learns that any Entrant is under the age of 18, the Sponsor will retain the information submitted by the Entrant long enough to respond to the Entrant but will otherwise delete all information submitted by the Entrant after notifying the Entrant that they are ineligible for the Sweepstakes.

 

Void where prohibited by law.

 

PRIZES:

  • 1) A free NCSY Summer program of your choice or $5,000 (the summer program must be used for Summer 2023)
  • 2) Tickets for 2 to Israel
  • 3) A $500 Visa Gift Card

 

SWEEPSTAKES DRAWING:

The winners will be chosen by random drawings, conducted by the Sponsor, from among all eligible entries. The drawings will be held on Shushan Purim, Monday morning March 25, 2024, (subject to change upon Sponsor’s discretion) live on the Nachum Segal Network and the winners will be announced live by Nachum.

SWEEPSTAKES DEADLINES:

Entry begins at 12:01 AM EST, January 18, 2024.

All entries, including mail in entries, must be received by March 24, 2024 at 8:00 PM EST (the “Sweepstakes Period”), in order to be entered into the Sweepstakes.

 

 

 

 

 

HOW TO ENTER:

All entries must be made within the Sweepstakes Period, i.e. subsequent to the “Entry begins” date and prior to the “Entry Ends” date.

  • Online Entry:

You can sign up by going online to https://summer.ncsy.org/purimraffle/ and fill out the required information to register.

 

  • Alternative Method of Entry:

You may also enter by mailing a handwritten 3 x 5 card with your full name, postal address, email address and telephone number to NCSY Summer Program Purim Raffle, Orthodox Union, 40 Rector Street, New York, NY 10006.  Only one card will be allowed per envelope and only one such entry may be submitted per day (as determined by the postmark on each envelope) by each person.

Sponsor reserves the right to offer special entry periods during certain times which may result in extra entries for Entrants during that time.

All contact information provided must be valid, truthful and current. Entries submitted must be received by the close of the Sweepstakes Period. Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, delayed, damaged, misdirected, incomplete, illegible or unintelligible entries. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify false entries or entries suspected of being false. Persons discovered entering under several names will be disqualified. Only complete valid entries will be accepted. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, damaged, delayed, destroyed, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, or postage due mail. Such entries are void and will not be accepted. Incomplete, unreadable, or unintelligible entries, in the sole discretion of Sponsor, will be disqualified. Sponsor will not verify receipt of entries. All entries submitted become the sole property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. In the event a dispute regarding the identity of the individual who actually submitted an entry cannot be resolved to Sponsor’s satisfaction, the affected entry will be deemed ineligible.

 

SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION OF WINNER:

Each qualified entry will be entered into random drawings for a prize to take place on or about the dates listed above. The Prizes and their approximate value are as follows:

 

  • 1) A free NCSY Summer program of your choice or $5,000 (the summer program must be used for Summer 2024) Approximate value: up to $11,500  Not to exceed $11,500 or $5,000
  • 2) Tickets for 2 to Israel. Approximate value: $3,000  Not to exceed $3,000
  • 3) A $500 Visa Gift Card. Approximate value: $500  Not to exceed $500.

 

The winners will be notified by email at the email address provided by Entrant.  The winners may be called on the day or evening of the drawing. The winners will be required to respond (as directed) within seven (7) days of attempted notification.  Failure to respond within seven days of notification will result in forfeiture of the prize and, in such case, Sponsor may randomly select an alternate winner from among the remaining eligible entries. Winners may also be sent an affidavit of eligibility/liability/publicity release (“Release”) in order to accept the prize.  Unless restricted by law, winners will be required to complete and return the Release within fifteen (15) days from the date of notification. Except where prohibited by law, winners’ name and photograph(s) may be required to receive the prize and may be used at Sponsor’s discretion for future advertising, publications and promotional materials. Except where restricted by law, winners must allow Sponsor to use his or her name and photograph for such advertising, publications and promotional purposes in order to claim the prize. Unless restricted by law, the winners’ name may be published on Sponsor’s web sites in the form of a first and last name and hometown. An alternate winner will be randomly selected from among the remaining eligible entries if a winner: (i) cannot be reached; (ii) fails to obtain all signatures on the Release and to return the documents in a timely manner as required pursuant to these Official Rules; or (iii) cannot accept or receive the prize for any reason. Prize must be picked up or claimed within thirty (30) days of the winning notification.

 

Sponsor will not be obligated to make multiple attempts to contact the winner. The winner may be issued a 1099 form. Winners are solely responsible for any and all federal, state and local income taxes, fees, assessments and like charges associated with the prize.

In the event of a dispute about the identity of an Entrant, each entry will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at time of entry.
Pictures of the prizes are for illustration purposes only. Actual prizes may differ.

 

Non-cash prizes may be provided either as actual item(s), or as cash value, entirely at the discretion of Sponsor. No substitution or transfer of prize permitted, provided however that Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize with another prize of equal or greater value should the advertised prize become unavailable for any reason. If a substitute prize is awarded, there shall be no cash redemption of prize permitted and any difference between actual value and actual retail value will not be awarded. Winners cannot assign or transfer their prize to another person or business. All activities related to the prize are at the winners’ own risk and subject to whatever restrictions are imposed by the entities that govern such activities. Acceptance, participation in and/or use of the prize are at the winners’ sole risk and Sponsor is not responsible for damages whatsoever, including special, indirect, or consequential damages, arising out of or in connection with the use and/or misuse of the prize. If prize notification or any prize is returned as undeliverable, prize will be forfeited, and an alternate winner may be selected.

 

Sponsor is not responsible for typographical errors.

Winners any prize who reside outside of the continental United States will be responsible for arranging delivery of the prize, including any costs associated therewith.

 

ODDS:

The odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received.

 

CONDITIONS:

Sweepstakes is subject to these Official Rules. By participating, Entrants agree: (i) to be bound by these complete Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor which shall be final and binding; and (ii) to waive any right to claim ambiguity in the Sweepstakes or these Official Rules, except where prohibited by law.

By accepting a prize, winners agree to release Sponsor’s related entities together with their subsidiaries, affiliates, parent companies, directors, employees, officers, licensees, licensors and agents of each, including without limitation, their respective advertising and promotion entities and any person or entity associated with the production, judging, or administration of the Sweepstakes, (collectively, the “Releasees”) from any and all liability, loss or damage arising from or in connection with awarding, receipt and/or use or misuse of prize or participation in any prize-related activities, except where restricted by law. Releasees reserve the right to use the Sweepstakes for publicity purposes in any media, and to use the name, likeness, and hometown name and/or prize information of the winner as part of that publicity, without any compensation or prior review unless prohibited by law. The Sweepstakes is void where prohibited or restricted by law, and subject to applicable federal, state and local laws. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any Entrant it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Sweepstakes or violating these Official Rules. Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to terminate the Sweepstakes and, if terminated, at its discretion, Sponsor may select the potential winner(s) in a random drawing from among all eligible, non-suspect entries received prior to action taken. Any and all disputes regarding these Official Rules and/or the Sweepstakes shall be determined by binding arbitration before the Vaad Hadin V’Horaah, Rabbinical Court in New City, New York, an Orthodox Beit Din. The ruling and award of such Orthodox Beit Din will be a final, binding, non-appealable, and legally enforceable decision.

 

CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE SWEEPSTAKES MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM PARTICIPATION IN THE SWEEPSTAKES. SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK REMEDIES AND DAMAGES (INCLUDING ATTORNEY FEES) TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW, INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION.

 

 

PUBLICITY:

Except where prohibited by law, the winners’ acceptance of a Prize constitutes permission for Sponsor to use winners’ name, photographs, likeness, statements, biographical information, voice, and city and state address for promotional or advertising purposes in connection with the Sweepstakes on a worldwide basis, and in all forms of media, now or hereafter known, in perpetuity, without review, permission or further compensation. Winners also releases sponsor from any liability related to the above.

 

PRIVACY:

All personal information collected by Sponsor will be used for administration of the Sweepstakes. In addition, Entrants may receive email correspondence from, or on behalf of the Sponsor, subject to the Sponsor’s privacy policy. Sponsor uses reasonable commercial efforts to comply with federal CAN-SPAM guidelines, and Entrants may subsequently opt-out of receiving further emails by following the opt-out instructions contained in the email.

WINNERS’ LIST:

The winners may be listed on the summer.ncsy.org website.  For a copy of the winners’ list, please send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: NCSY Summer Program Purim Raffle, Orthodox Union, 40 Rector Street, New York, NY 10004. The information will be available once the winner has been verified and the prize has been awarded. All requests must be received within 90 days of the end of the Sweepstakes Period (WA, VT residents need not affix postage).

Winners’ name(s) can be accessed on our website.
