What is the daily schedule?
For Project Community Kollel (boys), each morning will have davening, breakfast, learning and a fun activity. The program will run from 9 AM- 1 PM.
For Project Community GO (girls) each morning will start with tefila or tefila workshops and will be followed by learning, fun activities, lunch. The program will run from 10 AM- 1 PM.
There will be night activities from approximately 8-10 PM 2-3 nights a week for both programs.
What will the fun activities be?
As the CDC Guidelines are constantly changing we cannot commit to specific activities. However, we do anticipate that we will be able to do regular summer program activities in smaller groups. Whatever we are able to do, we guarantee that it will be active, fun and exciting.
What will the night programming look like?
Again, as the CDC Guidelines are constantly changing we cannot comment on the specific activities we will be doing, however we anticipate that we will be able to do regular summer night activity type programming, in smaller groups. Some of the night programs will be more educational, some will be more fun. All will be some combination of both!
Will there be sports?
As per the current CDC guidelines, we will be able to have non-contact sports as well as sports clinics. The CDC guidelines in both NY and NJ suggest that by the time we start our programs we will be able to play contact sports, including basketball.
Will there be transportation?
As per consultation with our medical doctor, we are able to provide limited transportation if necessary and if there is sufficient demand. We will provide this service at cost. We will communicate transportation options after registration.
What safety protocols are you putting into place?
- Participants will be required to fill out a screening questionnaire every day before attending the programs
- Groups will operate in a family; ten NCSYers and 2 Madrichim/Madrichot to a Chaburah. In accordance with the guidelines, 2 or 3 Chaburahs will form a family unit. All programming will be taking place within the family unit and Chaburahs.
- As the situation continues to unfold, our policies and procedures will be updated and we will be in close contact with the participants and parents.
All of our programming and guidelines are based on the CDC/State guidelines as well as under the guidance of Dr. Robert van Amerongen. Additional protocols may be needed, we will update you as necessary.
Are there any other hidden fees or “extras”?
We recommend tips for the madrichim/madrichot. All program fees are covered. There will likely be canteen style food options available. We will always keep open the possibility of shabbos programming should the guidelines allow it, and those costs will be extra.
What is the dress code?
Dress Code will be in accordance with halacha and appropriate for a Torah learning environment. Girls are required to wear skirts and Boys are required to have pants for davening.
What happens in the afternoon?
Project Community Kollel (boys) and GO (girls) is for the mornings and evenings. NCSY though has many exciting opportunities already in existence for the afternoon, in addition to other programming that we may develop in the coming weeks. Here are some of the afternoon opportunities:
- Project Community offers the framework for our camp and also provides a variety of social action projects for our NCSYers in the afternoon. It has a separate registration on the Project Community website. Please visit www.pc20.org for more information.
- NCSY Global is an online portal for a variety of virtual classes, workshops, and activities. Please visit global.ncsy.org for more information.
- We have a partnership with YU for classes for credit.
*additional charges may apply
Are there more intensive learning options?
For the boys in Bergen County we will offer a Project Community Kollel Masmidim track. This track will likely have its own location and will have learning throughout the morning (without the morning activities). You can indicate your preference on the registration form.
